– Adultos mayores, mujeres e indígenas, los grupos más discriminados en la entidad

De acuerdo a los resultados emitidos por la más reciente encuesta del Instituto Nacional de Estadística Geografía e Informática (INEGI), se sabe que en el país y concretamente en Michoacán la discriminación va en aumento.
En la entidad, anteriormente del 100 por ciento de la población, un 16.3 por ciento sufría algún tipo de discriminación, pero actualmente este número se elevó poco más de 7 puntos porcentuales, es decir, actualmente ronda el 23.5 por ciento de la población que sufre algún tipo de discriminación.
Así lo informó Yolanda Guerrero Barrera, Directora general del Consejo Estatal para Prevenir y Eliminar la Discriminación y la Violencia en el estado de Michoacán (COEPREDV), «lamentablemente después de la pandemia nos enfrentamos a una sociedad cada vez más discriminatoria».
Aseguró que uno de los sectores más vulnerables a sus derechos son los adultos mayores, sobre todo aquellos que tienen alguna discapacidad, ya que sus parientes se aprovechan de su vulnerabilidad y les roban su pensión, los abandonan o no les garantizan la atención que requieren, prácticamente los ignoran, “son situaciones que incluso no se denuncian».
En ese sentido, dijo que las autoridades están creando foros de difusión para promover la cultura de la denuncia, «en el COEPREDV se reciben denuncias a través de terceras personas. Si tú sabes de algún ciudadano que es violentado, discriminado en su domicilio, puedes denunciar».
Recordó que además en el 2023 se creó una Procuraduría en defensa del adulto mayor, dentro del DIF estatal, «contamos con un procurador en defensa de las personas de la tercera edad, lo que falta es que el ciudadano conozca a dónde acudir y fomentar la cultura de la denuncia».
Describió que otros de los sectores que sufren más discriminación en Michoacán son las mujeres en general, tanto mayores de edad, amas de casa, niñas, trabajadoras, etc.; «pasaron a ser de un 30 por ciento del sector femenino a un 44 % de ellas que son discriminadas».
También sufren discriminación la población indígena y la comunidad LGTB, «gracias a estos resultados, las autoridades y estancias como el COEPREDV, tenemos un panorama amplio para saber hacia dónde enfocar nuestros esfuerzos en materia educativa y preventiva, en aras de generar una sociedad más inclusiva, respetuosa y donde prevalezca la paz», finalizó.
