– Piden a padres de familia intensificar el cuidado de sus hijos en este periodo vacacional

«Donde se accidentan más los niños pequeños es en el hogar, principalmente en la cocina, en el jardín y en su recamara.
Por lo que es fundamental que en este periodo vacacional los padres intensifiquen el cuidado de los menores, quienes son muy traviesos y requieren estar bajo la supervisión de los mayores», expresó Jesús Ayala Garibay, médico pediatra.
«Lamentablemente en periodo vacacional se incrementa la posibilidad de que los menores sufran un accidente en el hogar, sobre todo cuando no tienen supervisión. Los principales accidentes que se llegan a registrar son quemaduras, traumatismos a consecuencia de caídas e intoxicaciones con medicamentos o incluso con fumigantes o químicos del campo. Por ello estos últimos se deben tener fuera del alcance de los niños”.
Mencionó que la mayoría de los pequeños que se llegan a intoxicar es de gravedad, «por lo que difícilmente se atienden en el medio particular, más bien llegan al área de urgencia de los hospitales públicos. Si bien es cierto, hay lesiones de leves a moderadas, pero hay casos tan graves que ocasionan incluso la muerte o secuelas tan lamentables que pueden dejar invalido al menor».
Finalmente recordó a los padres, «no hay que dejar solos a nuestros hijos ni un minuto, porque incluso en un descuido de segundos, todo puede cambiar. De los 0 a los 5 años es la edad de más vulnerabilidad. Hay que recordar que después de un accidente de gravedad, ya nada es igual».
