«La lactancia materna es un acto de amor, de conciencia y responsabilidad en el cuidado de la salud y el buen desarrollo para los niños.
Tiene múltiples beneficios, tanto para la madre como para el bebé», aseguró Jorge Roberto Vázquez Palacios, Director del Centro de Salud Zamora- Valencia.
En el marco de la semana mundial de la lactancia materna, aseguró que cada vez se respeta más a la mujer que está lactando, «el hecho de que existan espacios públicos propios para esta actividad habla de la importancia de esta, estamos haciendo que se desarrolle más ese estado de conciencia”.
Indicó que una mujer que lacta oferta a su hijo el primer proceso de inmune-estimulación, mejora el estado del crecimiento y desarrollo del bebé y también le favorece su desarrollo neurológico y psicomotriz, “igualmente a la mujer le favorece para que no aparezca el cáncer cervicouterino, disminuye los riesgos del cáncer de mama, condiciona su estado de mejor proceso de evolución, después del parto”.
Por ello, agregó, la lactancia materna tiene beneficios tanto para la madre como para el producto, “es un proceso que los zamoranos aceptan muy bien, de cada 10 mujeres, dos no lactan, sobre todo del medio rural, en el urbano la mujer ya tiene una visión diferente, está más informada, producto de la promoción hecha en los centros de salud».
Finalmente, dio a conocer que las mujeres que no lactan, optan por formulas o leche en polvo, cuyos excesos pueden generar caries en los niños o diabetes.
