«Para el ciclo agrícola de octubre 2023 a septiembre 2024 la Comisión Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA) autorizó un plan de riego muy austero, ya que se han abatido los acuíferos (manantiales, presas, pozos) debido a la falta de lluvias en este año que está por concluir.
De los 820 milímetros de precipitaciones pluviales que captábamos cada año, este 2013 solo nos llovió 490 milímetros», señaló Herón Medina, gerente del módulo de riego No 1 en Zamora.
Indicó que años atrás este módulo de riego tenia una concesión de agua por parte de la CONAGUA de 50 millones de metros cúbicos para irrigar a 3 mil hectáreas de cultivos como berries, hortalizas y granos establecidos en zonas agrícolas de Zamora, Tangancícuaro, y Jacona.
Agregó que este año les redujeron dicha cantidad al 50 por ciento, precisamente por esa escasez de lluvias, «por ello también se redujo el número de hectáreas, ya que este año agrícola sólo se establecerán 1 mil 500 de los cultivos citados”.
Detalló que han mermado los niveles de las fuentes de abastecimiento de las cuales hacen uso, «en el caso de este módulo nos abastecemos del Río Duero, que cuenta con manantiales en los 11 pueblos arriba donde nace el agua, los cuales han ido bajando su cauce; de igual forma, la Presa Urepetiro la tenemos a un 42% de su capacidad; asimismo, también tienden a la baja la presa de Verduzco, el Rio Celio y las presas el Orandino y La Estancia”.
Finalmente, indicó que ante esa reducción en la concesión del recurso hídrico para riego, buscarán generar consciencia entre el agricultor de utilizar la tecnificación de riego, «las láminas de riego utilizan 50% menos de agua, en cambio el agua rodada superficial hay perdidas por conducción y lixiviación».
