Crece el número de personas enfermas con esclerosis múltiple, el último mes de 2023 se reportaron 4 nuevos casos en Zamora, son mujeres en edad productiva, entre 18 y 23 años, “es gente que llega a la asociación en etapa tardía, al no aceptar que tienen el padecimiento y, cuando piden ayuda, ya llegan con la enfermedad avanzada con muchos problemas, tanto en la atención médica, como en su tratamiento”, informó Gonzalo Contreras, integrante de la Asociación Civil de Esclerosis Múltiple.
Reveló que, además, las personas acuden con médicos no especialistas, como el médico familiar, cuando debe ser con internistas y neurólogos, “por ese desconocimiento o porque se auto medican, hace deteriorar más el padecimiento, cuando lo ideal es cumplir con todos los protocolos médicos, pues de lo contrario se agudiza la enfermedad, tal como ocurrió con una de las pacientes que ya está postrada y tiene hasta llagas».
Es una enfermedad incurable, pero controlable, «demasiada costosa, tan sólo un medicamento en base a pastillas vale 50 mil pesos, pero sólo quienes tenemos seguridad social podemos acceder al mismo, pues de lo contrario se vuelve inaccesible. Las nuevas pacientes si cuentan con seguridad social, excepto una, pero no han sido debidamente canalizadas. Al recurrir a un médico familiar, este les da un diagnostico dudoso y, por tanto, el medicamento proporcionado no es certero, de ahí la importancia de acudir con el especialista», reiteró.
Finalmente, reveló que estos nuevos casos se suman a los 17 ya existentes aquí en Zamora, adheridos a esta AC, “el reto para este año es que haya una mejor atención en cuanto a la seguridad social para este sector, queremos que los políticos verdaderamente se preocupen por la salud de los michoacanos, pugnar porque la seguridad social sea de calidad y se considere la esclerosis múltiple como una prioridad en la atención médica».
