– También se sumaron más de mil personas a procesión con Inmaculada Concepción

Después de casi 30 años, fue iluminada la cruz del Cerro de la Beata, que significa un ícono para la población zamorana al ser la insignia que saluda a quienes llegan de visita al municipio desde los diferentes puntos cardinales.
El acto fue acompañado de un espectáculo de pirotecnia que fue organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Zamora e integrantes del club de Amigos de la Beata.
A partir de las 9 de la noche se pudo apreciar el encendido de la cruz y minutos después iniciaron los fuegos artificiales que causaron expectación entre la población de diferentes colonias e incluso habitantes de los municipios de Jacona, Tangancícuaro y Chilchota, que también alcanzaron a apreciar el evento desde sus respectivos lugares de residencia.
Al respecto, Cuauhtémoc Ventura Orozco, director de turismo, informó que por el momento se mantendrá encendida la cruz de manera provisional, debido a que existe la posibilidad de que la iluminación sea permanente, siempre y cuando exista un compromiso real de las personas de cuidar la infraestructura en lo alto de la zona cerril para evitar que sea vandalizado el espacio y se conserve el trabajo realizado para darle otra imagen al lugar icónico.
“Por el momento quiero reconocer el esfuerzo que hicieron particulares y el club de Amigos de la Beata porque se hizo la restauración de la cruz, que apenas el año pasado, había sufrido daños a causa de la caída de un rayo en la punta; finalmente quedó reparada y se realizó la fijación de pintura blanca para que veamos una insignia más bonita a partir de que celebramos el 450 aniversario de la Fundación de Zamora”, dijo.
Cabe añadir que antes del encendido de la cruz de la Beata, se realizó por la tarde una peregrinación en la que participaron más de mil personas con la imagen de la Inmaculada Concepción y el Señor de la Salud. El recorrido fue realizado en las calles del primer cuadro de la ciudad para después continuar con una celebración eucarística que fue encabezada por el obispo auxiliar, Francisco Figueroa Cervantes, quien estuvo acompañado por sacerdotes de la Diócesis de Zamora.
