Los casos de tosferina han vuelto a surgir entre la población derivado de la falta de vacunación. Uno de los factores principales en la falta de inmunidad entre las personas es que la aplicación de dosis o complemento de cuadros se vino abajo a partir de la pandemia de COVID 19 y hoy se pagan las consecuencias de dicha determinación de no aplicar el cuadro de vacunación.
Así lo consideraron, los médicos Rubén Alfaro Carranza y Ramiro Espinoza Zamora, al ser abordados por EL INDEPENDIENTE TV, quienes comentaron que es necesario que las autoridades competentes, así como la población retomen nuevamente esas actividades porque de lo contrario los niños son los que están en mayor riesgo de sufrir afecciones de salud importantes.
“Recordemos que la tosferina es una infección respiratoria aguda que se manifiesta en 3 etapas y que puede dejar incluso una tos espasmódica que puede causar en un momento determinado el hecho de que la persona se pueda ahogar si no se atiende a tiempo. Es momento de que se tome en consideración este tipo de hechos y no se comprometa la salud de infantes de los 0 a los 5 años de edad”, dijo el doctor Rubén Alfaro.
Finalmente, agregaron que una ventaja es el hecho de que entre el 80 y 90 por ciento de la población se puede proteger de un contagio de tosferina, que se transmite por vía aérea, debido a que existe el tratamiento, la vacuna y el medicamento necesario para hacerle frente a estos cuadros; sin embargo, la población debe ser la primera interesada en protegerse.
