– COEPREDV y UIIM firman convenio; señalan que pobladores de pueblos originarios siguen siendo víctimas de estas conductas

El Consejo Estatal para Prevenir y Eliminar la Discriminación y la Violencia (COEPREDV) a través de su directora, Yolanda Guerrero Barrera, y la Universidad Intercultural Indígena de Michoacán (UIIM), mediante su rector, Francisco Márquez Tinoco, firmaron convenio de colaboración del cual se desprenderá capacitación a los docentes en temas de prevención de la discriminación, la violencia de género y el acoso sexual.
Esto en aras de brindar un mejor servicio a los estudiantes, la mayoría provenientes de comunidades originarias, al respecto, Guerrero Barrera lamentó que los pueblos originarios han sufrido discriminación sistemática a través de la historia y aún prevalece, esto último según datos de la encuesta nacional sobre discriminación (ENADIS), donde el 28% de los pueblos originarios percibieron haber sido discriminados.
Mientras que el 38.5% opinó que sus derechos se respetan poco y un 26.8% manifestó que se les negó algún derecho, incluyendo el de la educación. El 71.5% de la población total encuestada afirma que las personas de pueblos originarios son poco o nada valorados, inclusive por sus propias etnias.
Márquez Tinoco, por su parte, dijo que, de acuerdo al último censo del INEGI, aquí en Zamora viven cerca de 9 mil personas que son de comunidades indígenas, «en consecuencia, la universidad tiene mucha razón de ser de estar presente en esta ciudad. Nuestro compromiso es la vinculación comunitaria, estamos convencidos que los problemas de la sociedad se resuelven con aportación desde la parte académica”.
Concluyó al decir que este acuerdo reforzará el compromiso que tienen como institución en el respeto a los derechos humanos, “ya que somos una universidad incluyente, no le ponemos restricciones a los estudiantes, ni de edad, ni de religión, ni de preferencias de tipo sexual. Nuestros estudiantes tienen mucho que aportar en la solución de los problemas de las comunidades».
