– El Centro de Salud Urbano de Zamora- Galeana cuenta con ese espacio, servicio es gratuito

«Las clínicas de heridas han contribuido notablemente a evitar amputaciones de pies diabéticos. Hace 15 años no existían estos recintos al interior de los Centros de Salud.
Hoy, de 100 por ciento de los pacientes diabéticos no controlados, el 50 por ciento de estos terminó con alguna amputación. Actualmente sólo el 2 por ciento de la población diabética no controlada termina con esa desgracia. Por lo que la función de estos espacios es exitosa en materia preventiva».
Aseguró Galdina Sandoval Martínez, especialista en manejo avanzado de heridas y encargada de esta clínica, ubicada al interior del Centro de Salud Urbano de Zamora- Galeana, “precisamente estos espacios se crearon para disminuir la incidencia de las amputaciones de pie diabético y dar seguimiento a esas heridas para poder salvar la mayor parte de pies posibles”.
Al mes en esta clínica atienden alrededor de 40 a 60 paciente diabéticos con un rango de edad de 40 a 70 años, el 70 por ciento varones y el resto por mujeres, estas últimas tienen mayor cultura preventiva y se atienden más pronto, «muchas veces los varones sin ven alguna herida no le dan la atención necesaria por no faltar al trabajo y ya acuden cuando su pie está ya muy deteriorado».
Habló de las medidas que deben considerar los diabéticos para evitar amputaciones: «control del azúcar, cuidar los pies en el uso de calzado adecuado, hidratación continua de los pies, ya que si estos están resecos o con callos predisponen heridas, alimentación sana, revisión frecuente de pies».
«Además es importante usar calcetines blancos, ante el comienzo de una lesión, por muy pequeña que sea, rápido darse cuenta y atenderse. En cambio, si usan calcetines oscuros, si la herida drena liquido purulento, ni cuenta se dan, porque el calcetín está obscuro y no la alcanzan a percibir hasta que el pie huele feo, porque ellos pierden la sensibilidad en los pies”.
Por cada jurisdicción sanitaria, tienen una clínica de heridas en los hospitales y en el centro de Salud más grande, que, en este caso, es el de Zamora – Galeana, que atiende en un horario de 7 am a 2 pm. También se atienden ulceras venosas, ulceras arteriales, pacientes quemados y heridas de cirugías no bien cicatrizadas. Se trata de un programa federal implementado en el país desde hace 15 años. El abasto de materiales está garantizado.
