– Representan una tercera parte de la población total, fundamental dirigir programas y presupuestos a este sector

«La infancia debe ponderarse como el centro de las políticas públicas, en aras de contribuir a mitigar los grandes problemas que afectan a los menores de edad, como el consumo de drogas al interior de las escuelas, explotación laboral en vía pública y campo; abandono escolar, desnutrición, abuso sexual y violencia infantil», expresó Eduardo Lugo Nolasco, oficial de Protección a la Infancia de UNICEF.
En su reciente visita al Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Zamora (ITESZ), donde puso en marcha el programa de capacitación » escuelas en acción para la igualdad», que busca prevenir la violencia en las instituciones educativas, expresó que empieza a haber un consenso en los distintos niveles de gobierno, sobre la importancia que tiene atender los infantes.
«Trabajar desde la primera infancia para prevenir estos problemas y al mismo tiempo en temas estructurales, como en la superación de la pobreza, ya que con ello se tiene como consecuencia beneficios en todos los demás aspectos, como mejores oportunidades a educación, alimentación, etc. De ahí que es fundamental fortalecer los programas y políticas públicas en beneficio de la infancia».
Ya que, finalizó, los niños representan poco más de la tercera parte de la población del país y estado, por lo que presupuestos y programas públicos deben dirigirse a este sector, “la UNICEF, como organismo internacional, contribuye a los esfuerzos que hacen los gobiernos para buscar generar entornos protectores para los menores, tenemos un mandato, ver con la prevención de la violencia, el fortalecimiento a la educación y con las instituciones que atienden la violencia».
