– Derrumbó más de 120 árboles de aguacate

Desde que se tiene antecedentes en la lectura de vientos, por vez primera vez en la historia del municipio de Peribán se registró un tornado el pasado 21 de noviembre,
el cual afectó una superficie estimada de 16 hectáreas de aguacate en el predio denominado San José Tzitzimitzimacuaro.
De los mil 600 árboles plantados en dicha zona, 121 fueron derribados desde su raíz y más de 200 resultaron con afectaciones parciales. Por lo que se tuvo una significativa merma de esta fruta conocida como el «oro verde», señaló Hugo Alberto Machuca Ceja, coordinador de sanidad vegetal del distrito de desarrollo rural (DDR) 088 de la Secretaria de Agricultura Federal en la región Ciénega de Chapala.
Añadió, «se trató de una situación atípica, nunca antes registrada en dicha zona, atribuible al cambio climático. Fueron afectados 9 productores del predio ya citado, quienes, tras este fenómeno, tuvieron una pérdida económica cuantiosa, lamentablemente ninguno de ellos contaba con seguro agrícola y, aunque así lo fuera, difícilmente alguna aseguradora apoya por esas cuestiones, sólo por granizo, lluvias excesivas o por sequía».
Finalmente, indicó que DDR 088 ya gestiona a oficinas centrales de la secretaria de agricultura federal un apoyo económico para ayudar a los productores afectados a consecuencia de este fenómeno meteorológico, «actualmente no se cuenta con ningún programa enfocado a este tipo de contingencias, por ello se está solicitando un apoyo económico, esperamos tener una pronta respuesta».
