– Fundamental conocer y detectar los signos y síntomas a tiempo

Los casos de cáncer infantil, principalmente de leucemia, crecieron en los últimos años, tan solo en el 2022 se cerró el año con 17 casos de leucemia en menores de 1 año a 10 años», informó José Manuel Aguilar Vázquez, coordinador de servicios de salud en la jurisdicción sanitaria 2.
Indicó que actualmente 15 mil niños en México tienen cáncer infantil, «no hay otra enfermedad por la que mueran más pequeños en el país, que por este mal oncológico. Aunque es cierto que los accidentes son la primera causa de muerte en los menores, pero el cáncer es la segunda causa de fallecimientos».
Dijo que es fundamental saber detectar los signos y síntomas de la enfermedad para poder tratarla oportunamente, “la jurisdicción sanitaria tiene presencia en 21 municipios y 62 unidades de primer nivel y dos de segundo nivel (hospitalarias), en todas contamos con personal capacitado, con la destreza y la habilidad necesaria para hacer la detección».
Agregó, «tenemos las herramientas y los formatos, importantes para que sean tamizados los niños cuando acuden a consulta. Y en esta parte, me queda muy claro que el tema de la oportunidad es esencial para tener mejores resultados de tratamiento. Y en la oportunidad, basamos el resultado».
Enumeró los principales síntomas de alerta en caso de leucemia: pequeños moretones, manchas oscuras en la boca, cansancio inexplicable, falta de actividad física, falta de apetito, «son de los signos que deben llamar la atención, para acudir inmediatamente a valoración del pequeño».
Resaltó que las autoridades sanitarias están en la mejor disposición para sumarse a cualquier tipo de solicitud o gestión que requieran, en apoyo para la atención o la vinculación con el segundo o tercer nivel, de ser necesario».
Finalmente dijo que el crecimiento del cáncer infantil obedece a diversos factores, ya sea ambientales, por uso excesivo de plaguicidas, malos hábitos alimenticios, problemas hereditarios, etc.
